Moroccan society and ISLAM

Please take note before reading that I am not talking about everyone and I mean no offense to anyone.

As it’s known Moroccans religion is Islam, the majority of us are Muslims we pray 5 times a day fast in Ramadan and so on.

In the past Moroccan society used to be very strict when it comes to religious stuff, no girls showing off their body parts; no man harassing women; no mixing between man and women in special occasions or family gatherings. Nowadays it all changed, bit by bit they started to allow what’s forbidden and forbid what’s allowed; which they call civilization and by the way it is not.

 Being civilized isn’t about changing your religion or your culture it’s about changing your mind, your way of thinking, being more educated. Moroccan society started to turn into western society, which is not the right path ,instead of focusing on maybe studying and learning like westerns they just started to wear and act like ones ,we can see that clearly in our society and it’s something impossible with our religion (no offense for westerns we respect everyone it’s just a religious stuff if we are going to call ourselves Muslims we better act like ones is what I exactly mean).

But here is the real deal Moroccans from the very beginning didn’t do that because its forbidden by ISLAM, they did that because it’s not socially accepted. They only care for what other people say about them and how they will react. For example someone finds out his daughter is pregnant without marriage, of course in Islam being in a relationship without marriage is forbidden and it’s a big sin; but the only thing that parents will think of when it happens is how society will look at them, their family, their neighbors or friends that’s it, and it’s something that I really don’t like in Moroccan society. 

like if society won’t judge then its okay to do it even if its forbidden by religion .Another example to explain properly, a women whom her husband died, in Islam it’s totally allowed to get married again but in Moroccan society it’s not accepted and this case I witnessed myself some neighbors been talking about her like she committed a crime” omg how could she do it she has no shame” and stuff like that but the question is why? Islam allow it so how can a Muslim society disallow it?

 They created something they call “HCHOUMA” that it means it’s a shame or not accepted by the society, instead of “HARAM” and it means forbidden or not allowed by god, which is the right term we should use as MUSLIMS. And they keep mixing religion with tradition and culture seriously Moroccan people should learn how to distingue between them.
